FREEZE UP SLOWLY

Last week freeze up was starting, this weeks ice chart shows it's progressing. In 2005 on the 15th of Oct.  the waters of the northwest passage were for the most part closed to small vessel traffic. The waters over Alaska and the southern Canadian arctic are still open as the latest ice chart shows. Freeze up is later which means the ice will probably not get as thick through the winter and it will melt sooner in the spring. How is this pattern affecting the planet? Last winter parts of the US had record heat when it should have been very cold. What will come this winter, Colder or more warmth?
